If you’re curious about hypnotherapy but feel a bit nervous (especially if you’ve seen stage hypnotists), you’re not alone. This post explains what hypnotherapy is (and isn’t), what you’ll feel during a session, and how we keep you feeling safe and in control at SuperBEing.
Will I be out of control?
No — you stay in control the whole time. Hypnotherapy isn’t mind control. It’s a guided, focused state where we work with your attention and imagination to help your mind learn new responses.
You can speak, move, or stop at any time.
You won’t do anything that goes against your values.
If something doesn’t feel right, we adjust immediately.
Stage hypnosis vs therapeutic hypnosis
Stage hypnosis is entertainment — it relies on volunteers, social pressure, and performance. Therapeutic hypnotherapy is private, collaborative, and focused on your goals (confidence, anxiety, habits, stress).
In hypnotherapy, you’re not ‘under my control’ — you’re learning to use your own mind differently.
What will I feel like in a session?
Most people describe it as deeply relaxed and focused — a bit like being absorbed in a book or drifting just before sleep. Some people feel light, others heavy; some feel very calm, others simply ‘normal’. There’s no single ‘right’ way for it to feel.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Most people can experience hypnosis. The key is willingness and feeling safe. If you’re anxious or trying hard to ‘do it right’, we’ll slow it down and use approaches that fit you.
How many sessions does it take?
Most clients need 2–6 sessions, depending on what you’re working on. As a guide: habit break is often around 2 sessions, and confidence building is typically 4 sessions. We’ll agree the right plan after your free discovery call.
Ready to talk it through?
If you’re feeling curious but unsure, the easiest next step is a free discovery call. You can ask anything, we’ll talk through what you want to change, and you’ll leave knowing whether hypnotherapy feels like the right fit.
